Starting May 1, the plan is open to:

This is part of a broader rollout that will bring eligibility to all uninsured adults aged 18 to 64 by the end of May.

What’s Covered?
Under the CDCP, eligible Canadians will have access to a wide range of essential dental services, including:
- Exams and X-rays
- Cleanings and preventive care
- Fillings and restorations
- Root canals and extractions
- Dentures and some prosthodontic services
The program does not cover cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening.

Already Approved? Don’t Forget to Renew
If you’re already enrolled in the CDCP, make sure to renew your coverage before June 1, 2025 to avoid a lapse in benefits. Without renewal, coverage ends June 30 and claims made during any gap period won’t be reimbursed. Learn more about renewals.
Why This Matters
This expansion brings Canada closer to universal dental care, especially benefiting Canadians who are self-employed, in part-time jobs, or otherwise not covered through employer-sponsored insurance. As of early 2025, over 3.4 million Canadians had been approved for coverage, and the coming phases are expected to add 4.5 million more.
The program is administered through Sun Life Financial, and applications can be submitted online or at Service Canada locations.
